WinAdlez
Introduction
In 1998, Zef Hemel and I created a DOS game called Adlez. In 2003 I started working on a Windows remake. Unfortunately I had a hard drive crashed and the project got cancelled. In March 2007 I got interested in the project again, but never got around to starting on it again.
On May 24 2008, I started working on it again with the intention of really finishing it this time!
WinAdlez will feature all 40 original Adlez levels, all 10 Zinza levels, and several new levels. Ofcourse it will also feature new graphics and much more!
WinAdlez is being programmed in Delphi, the Windows equivalent of Pascal, the original programming language for Adlez.
Progress
As of May 31, 2008 it is possible to play through all levels with full functionality, including loading and saving your game. All levels are in plaintext right now, once that is changed I might release a first version.
As of August 29, 2009, I haven't worked on WinAdlez in over a year. There are a few reasons for this. First and foremost, I have been very busy with school work. Second, I switched from Windows XP to Windows Vista last November. I could no longer install my Delphi version because I reached my installation limit. I can change this by calling Borland, but since I bought Delphi about 6 years ago, I don't know if it's still possible or if the phone number is even correct. However, I recently found out my university offers Delphi 2009 to all students. I have not installed it yet, but I will soon. Once I've got it working, I hope I can start on WinAdlez again
Linux version?
I've looked into this a bit now, and here is the sad conclusion:
Delphi 6, which I am using, does not support CLX which is needed to create a cross-platform product. Delphi 7 does support it, but not the Personal edition which is the only edition that is (legally) available for free. TurboDelphi, a free version of Delphi, does not support it either.
So unfortunately there will not be a native Linux version. However it probably works fine when running it under Wine, but I have not tested this yet.
As you might have read under "Progress", I can now install Delphi 2009. I don't know if it's possible to generate Linux projects with this version, but like I said before: it will probably run just fine under Wine.
